Of His Work I Do Sing

Singing is a great thing! It is one of the ways I can preach the Gospel to myself. It seems like the Lord is showing me a common theme each morning in needed to preach the Gospel to myself. He has been instructing my heart on this subject through friends, His word and music over the past couple of days. This morning I couldn't stop the tears from falling as I heard the sweet words from Jeremy Riddle's song "Sweetly Broken".

To the cross I look, to the cross I cling
Of its suffering I do drink
Of its work I do sing
.
For on it my Savior both bruised and crushed
Showed that God is love
And God is just

At the cross You beckon me
You draw me gently to my knees, and I am
Lost for words, so lost in love,
I’m sweetly broken, wholly surrendered

What a priceless gift, undeserved life
Have I been given
Through Christ crucified

You’ve called me out of death
You’ve called me into life
And I was under Your wrath
Now through the cross I’m reconciled

In awe of the cross I must confess
How wondrous Your redeeming love and
How great is Your faithfulness

The truth of these words are so amazing that it made me just want to go find a quiet room somewhere and worship God for who He is and what He has done. On my own I would definitely never be prompted to go and do that, but I know the Lord was graciously drawing my heart to Him this morning. I am hoping that everyday the picture of the world in my eyes becomes dimmer and the picture of Christ and an eternity spent with Him becomes brighter.

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen"- 2 Peter 3:18
